Oneonta Varsity Girls improved to 1-1 after their 69-32 victory over 5A Etowah Tuesday night. The Redskins bounced back strongly after last Thursday's loss to Center Point. they were led by Freshman Baylor Phillips 24 points and 4 rebounds. Oneonta would start out strong in the first quarter outscoring the Blue Devils 25-7 while shooting 63% from the field. Strong defensive play and great rebounding kept it going for Oneonta in the second half as that lead grew to 28 points. Senior Jordan Smith scored double figures once again with 14 points and hit 4 3s to help grow that lead. Once the fourth quarter rolled around Oneonta finally got the lead to 30 points which activated the hot clock. Head Coach David Elrod was pleased with his team's performance and energy. Oneonta is scheduled to take on Locust Fork at home next Tuesday but would be rescheduled if Oneonta Football defeats Deshler in the 2nd Round.
